James Braid Golf Trail

In the Scottish Highlands, James Braid’s legacy endures through a collection of classic courses that showcase his timeless design, set against some of Scotland’s most breathtaking landscapes.

Each course offers a unique blend of strategic challenge and natural beauty, giving golfers the chance to experience traditional Scottish golf as it was meant to be played.

James Braid stands among the giants of the game, a five-time winner of The Open Championship and a central figure in golf’s famed Great Triumvirate alongside Harry Vardon and John Henry Taylor. Born in Earlsferry, Fife, Braid rose from humble beginnings as a clubmaker to dominate the professional game in the early 20th century.

Renowned for his strategic mind as much as his competitive steel, he later became one of the most influential golf course architects in history and was deservedly inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.

In the Scottish Highlands, his architectural imprint remains especially strong, and our curated James Braid Trail brings together eight of his designs, offering golfers the chance to experience his timeless philosophy in the landscapes that inspired some of his most enduring work.
